Arranger's certificate learning outcomes

This three-day course will enable you to help a family make their main choices with knowledge, openness and confidence. You will receive a 100 page manual of all the information which you can keep referring to. Maximum 10 participants.
Note: we always have two facilitators, so if some people already know the content of a session, they can break out and do more practice on other skills. (3 days - £475)
Learning Outcomes
- Understand current trends in the UK funeral industry and the way funerals are changing to meet new perceptions, demographics and requirements, what we call contemporary funerals.
- Gain a deeper understanding of new bereavement, your role in helping a family to cope with loss and to arrange a special funeral.
- Learn active listening, communication and interviewing skills such as active listening and exploring what would be a good funeral for each family.
- Explore the main choices with regard to planning and arranging a funeral, including:
- cremation and burial options including woodland and private land burial
- how family and friends can be actively involved in preparations and the ceremony
- choices such as celebrant, transport, coffins & shrouds
- the full range of possible venues for funerals
- caring for the person who has died at home or elsewhere
- family and friends visiting the person who has died
- costs and paying for a funeral
- different types and styles of funeral ceremony
- after the funeral and memorialisation.
- Learn about what makes a good funeral ceremony and how to use these choices creatively.
- Knowledge of all the official procedures and paperwork.
- Explore your own attitudes towards bereavement, death and funerals.
