I want to say how much I appreciated all your support. You helped us to create a beautiful and moving celebration of L's being. You achieved a fine balance in your guidance and you eased the interactions between the family and friends which was so important. We all truly came together on the day for L. May you continue your extraordinary work with grace and blessings."

Family members making the body secure and comfortable with raw wool
Mostly, the body of the person who has died is brought into the care of the funeral director. We tend to the person who has died, wash, use oils on the hands and feet and make them comfortable and secure. We may dress them or wrap them in a soft jute shroud, we may prepare them to be seen by family and friends. We never forget that the person is not ours, but yours, and you may wish to care for them in death as you did in life. We invite you to be present and assist with any of these final acts of care, and, if you wish, to take the person to lie in honour at home the night before or for some time before the funeral.

We will also advise you about holding a "home funeral" when you care for the body at home. Please call us on 01803 840779 to make an appointment or for a chat without obligation.
