After losing someone close to you, it is very hard to think straight, let alone organise a moving funeral with just the right mixture of words and music that does justice to the person you have lost.
I can help you create a special ceremony that will put your loved one centre stage for the last time. I bring years of experience in public speaking and a calm, friendly professionalism and a sympathetic ear. Whether you know exactly what you want, or you haven't a clue, I can explain the options and work with you to make the perfect ceremony, whether it is at a crematorium, a woodland burial or a memorial service.

I realise the importance of creating a heartfelt, unique and memorable tribute for each individual; everybody is different and has a story to tell. Having experienced close family death at a young age, I understand the comfort and value of saying farewell in a fitting and beautiful way relevant to the person who has died. I will spend time with you, creating a meaningful ceremony around the wishes and beliefs of the person who has died, through word and music, respectfully, with love and gratitude.

I am an independent funeral celebrant and companion to the dying. I live in Somerset and am available for ceremonies both there and in the surrounding counties. I have a special interest in green burials and have a good knowledge of the various natural sites throughout the South of England. I believe that each of us are richly diverse and deserve to have a ceremony which reflects our lives. I am passionate about people knowing what is available for them to choose and I therefore give talks to groups about death and dying. It would be my privilege to provide a ceremony for you or your loved ones.

With experience of supporting people through bereavement, Joan's aim is to work flexibly with families and friends to create unique funeral and memorial ceremonies that reflect the character and life of the person who has died and provide opportunities for mourners to say goodbye to someone special in a way that feels right for them.
Experiences of death and loss in her own life help Joan to work with compassion and kindness, providing emotional support and practical advice when needed.
Joan brings a good understanding of structuring and conducting ceremonies that speak to and from the heart, give space for feelings and memories and offer time to honour the end of a life on earth.
She works with all styles and types of contemporary and traditional funerals, helps with planning funerals and conducts funeral ceremonies and memorials in Somerset and West Dorset.

I am a teacher, musician, singer and meditation guide, as well as a Funeral Celebrant. My work with performance and ceremony has shown me the great power of ritual to move the human spirit in a profound way and give meaning to significant events in our lives. Ceremonies have the potential to allow us to speak from a deeper place in our being and contact profound feelings. Giving voice is an important aspect of all the work that I do and my experiences around working with loss and grief as a therapist have led me to see the importance of working with people to create beautiful and meaningful events that truly speak from the heart in a unique and personal way.
