Funeral Advice and Funeral Directing.
We provide a full range of services for funerals. Our aim is to support
a family through that often harrowing and confusing period between a
death and the end of the funeral.
“In the hours
and days following her death, your tactful, sensitive, non-judgemental
and calm presence cleared the path for us to make the numerous
decisions that faced us. The thoughtful way in which you worked served
to minimise our stress, freeing us to arrange the farewell of our late
mother in the way that we feel she would have liked and approved.” Rod
Nelson and Clare Ballard
Like most
people, you probably know little about what to do when someone dies and
what's involved in arranging a funeral. If you add to this the trauma
of having to come to terms with your loss, you may feel you have little
option but to go with the norm and accept the often limited range of
options offered.
We will discuss with you how to make a 'good' funeral, one where a
family has enough information and support to participate in the choices
and proceedings to the extent you wish. A 'good' funeral creates good
memories which will always be there to comfort the bereaved and which
will survive in the family stories, strengthening bonds between the
generations.
There are few
statutory rules and regulations governing funerals. We can help you to
make the right choices for you and give support and advice on these
specific areas:
- getting
quotes for how much things cost
- a place to
hold the funeral, not necessarily a church or crematorium
- beautiful and
ecological coffins, wicker, bamboo, papier-mache, and shrouds
- green and
woodland burials and burials on private land
- transporting,
caring for a body and a vigil, if you wish
- all you need
to make an inspirational and personal ceremony
- choosing the
right person to conduct the ceremony
- rules,
regulations, paperwork
Please note that
our work with individuals and families to provide specific funeral
advice and funeral directing is a local service in Devon. We can offer
limited support on the phone, or you can find the information you need
in our easy-to-read book, WE NEED TO TALK ABOUT THE FUNERAL - 101
PRACTICAL WAYS TO COMMEMORATE AND CELEBRATE A LIFE, available from
bookshops, Amazon or green fuse.
