Woodland and natural burial sites began about 20 years ago and now there are nearly 250 across the UK. Most are woodland, some are meadows. Many have relatively young trees still, so it will be another 30 years until they start to mature, but many have lovely views.
A green burial is often part of a funeral where family and friends take more control of proceedings and the atmosphere is informal. Over a third of the funerals we undertake are green burials.
We are founder members of the Association of Green Funeral Directors, and recommended by the Natural Death Centre.
There are 9 in Devon at Seaton, Mole Valley, Templeton near Tiverton, Cheriton Bishop, at Exwick cemetery in Exeter, Rattery near Totnes, Dartmouth, Cockington and Yealmpton. They vary in price from £500 to £1200 for a single plot burial.
